Developing an effective presentation has no secrets, you have to establish a clear objective, plan and organize your materials and use the right visual aids. Understanding the needs and expectations of your audience enables selecting appropriate points of emphasis in your presentation, developing a useful level of detail, choosing and preparing appropriate visual aids, and creating a tone that is sensitive to your audience’s circumstance. It is important to prepare effective displays or visual presentation by making it simple and avoid using fancy design, characters or logos that can shift the attention of your audience from the important things you need to let them know. Ensure that you have a readable material by using at least a 24-point font so that everyone in the room can clearly read your material, and avoid using a photocopy of a standard printed page as a display. Limit your material to eight lines in every slide share and keep the number of words in a minimum level. It is better to sacrifice content for legibility because having good contents that are not readable is just useless. Don’t use a lot of curves in your text, rather use easily readable fonts such as Arial and Sans Serif which are easier to read than Times Roman or Monotype Corsiva. Don’t fill up the slide share, use light letters such as white or yellow on a dark background like dark blue or navy green, and use equations sparingly.

If you want to give out handouts, use a wide format printer for you to use bigger sheets of paper for a more interesting look and you can use them as a backdrop as well. You can use digital materials such as Powerpoint presentations for a more advanced and state of the art presentation.
